“There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.”
Elie Wiesel, famed political activist and Holocaust survivor
The following series of photos were taken at Bersih 4.0, the rally that took place in Kuala Lumpur back in year 2015. The reason for the protest was to call for a reform to Malaysia’s electoral system. People of all races and classes spent their long weekend to voice their dissatisfaction, many of whom stayed overnight on the streets of KL. A lot of the protester banners were targeted at the Prime Minister as the rally was held during the height of the 1MDB scandal exposé.
As Malaysians elections are approaching, I hope this post serves as a reminder to fellow Malaysians to register themselves as a voter. Even if you have registered previously, do check your voting status online to ensure everything is in order. Together, we look forward to a brighter future.
